Frank Lampard’s team put in a pretty shocking performance tonight, there was no way around it.
After the game, the manager was relatively possible – mainly because there’s no point being anything else.
He agreed his team had been outplayed and had little chance in the second leg, but he clung on to the idea that “special things can happen at Stamford Bridge.”
He’s not wrong – but usually those special things took special players and special managers. The stadium can’t do it alone. Still, all we can do is believe.
