One of the first questions asked of Frank Lampard in his press conference today was whether his team’s season was “over.”
“It feels like it, with the tone of your question,” the Chelsea boss snapped back. As he pointed out, players play for more than trophies – they play for personal pride, their future in the team, for contracts to come…
It was a pretty disrespectful question, and frankly it got the response it deserved. Lampard is always a stony competitor underneath a friendly exterior, and this was precisely the response we would expect.
If they were looking to provoke a reaction, they certainly got one.
