Frank Lampard’s return has been met with joy from a lot of Chelsea fans – but on TalkSport today Simon Jordan insisted that that wouldn’t have been universal.
He harkened back to the caretaker’s first spell in charge, which eventually saw him sacked after a bad run. Jordan’s claim is that a lot of fans were already losing faith at that point, and wouldn’t necessarily want him back now.
That may be true, but in this situation, with the club legend taking over for just a few games, even those sceptical of him are likely to be just happy to have someone non-toxic at the helm to see us through to May.
