Vincent Kompany has been asked repeatedly in recent days about links to the Chelsea manager’s job, and in the most recent edition he slammed it as a “wasted question.”
He’d better get used to it. As a player who was recently a star of the Premier League now making a great impression as a manager, he’s going to be linked to top jobs until his takes one – or until his career starts going badly.
The removal of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique from the equation when it comes to Chelsea has pushed Kompany towards the top of the list, but the fact that the ownership are likely to push for a more experienced coach (probably Mauricio Pochettino) means that Kompany remains second favourite for now.
Burnley fans will be as sick of hearing him linked away as anyone, but they too will have to get used to the fact that talented young managers are just as much (if not more) in demand than players these days.
