Chelsea embarrass themselves with latest social media activity

Leeds Tweeted gleefully at Chelsea earlier in the season to mock us after their victory, and today the Blues got some cold revenge with a counter-Tweet following Leeds’ relegation.

It’s clear that the new owners demanded some kind of boost to the engagement on Twitter, generated by this sort of thing, but we hate it.

Just as it’s embarrassing (not to mention hubristic) for Leeds to post the original, it’s embarrassing for us to get involved as any sort of revenge. Maybe if we have a great season and beat them comfortably. After the year we’ve had? No way. We should be keeping out heads down.

You can see the Tweet in question from Chelsea embedded here:

Soon they will have something much more important to get on with – announcing the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, which is expected any day now. Until then, a sheepish silence would be appreciated, not sass from an organisation which has roundly embarrassed itself on the pitch.
