Chelsea are lining up at Stamford Bridge for their final game under Frank Lampard, and the former player has gone with plenty of experience in the team.
One of those old heads he’s picked is Cesar Azpilicueta, who plays at right back. In the crowd at one end, a banner has been revealed, hailing him as he potentially plays out his final minutes for the club after a phenomenal run.
The design refers to the song that fans have sung about the defender since his early days here – “we’ll just call him Dave,” or as they have it hear, “we’ll just call him legend.”
If Azpi does leave this summer, it’s after a superb shift at the club and it’s with the appreciation of every fan at Stamford Bridge. We will have a look at his reaction at full time to try and read what’s going on.
