The Daily Mail have today published an updated “transfer confidential” which has plenty of interesting snippets for Chelsea fans.
The noise about a potential departure for Mateo Kovacic has ramped up in recent weeks, and we’ve today seen more news about that. This piece claims that Manchester City are maintaining a “watching brief” on Kova – although there may not be much to see now. He limped off injured in our game at the weekend and may not see the pitch again this season.
He’s not the only one being linked away. Three other first team players are listed as “prime candidates to go” – Edouard Mendy, Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount.
Some of those would prove more popular departures among fans than others. Selling three of our central midfield options in one go would certainly seem risky, especially as two of them are home-grown academy products popular with the fans.
Even if all four go, it’s likely that would be just the start of our departures.
