U14 star trains with Chelsea’s first team in interesting new move from management

Once Chelsea were out of the Champions League and mathematically safe from relegation, interim manager Frank Lampard started making vague promises about rewarding young players who deserved it.

We’ve since seen more of players like Noni Madueke – but this latest move is certainly a step beyond that.

Lampard has today allowed Chelsea’s U14 captain Charlie Holland to train with the first team. In a season of unbelievable bad vibes, this at least brings something positive to training sessions which could otherwise feel quite bleak, and given how little there is left to play for, quite pointless.

As the Tweet says, it’s great to see the youngsters rewarded like this, especially at a time when there are fears that the endless first team spending is crushing their hopes of a first team pathway. Let’s hope this isn’t the last we see of young Charlie…
