Just a few days ago we thought Kai Havertz was going to Real Madrid, but that was blown up in the last 24 hours with news that the Spanish side aren’t willing to reach the kind of transfer fee we’re asking for.
The Tweets from people like Fabrizio Romano mentioned interest from other clubs, and indeed one can’t imagine Chelsea would push for figures like the €85m they reportedly want if there wasn’t interest from elsewhere – although we haven’t been able to figure out quite who that would be just yet.
Caughtoffside say they know – they claim Arsenal are one of the sides who are considering a Havertz offer.
In some ways it feels crazy, and for one we don’t see Arsenal coming anywhere close to those kinds of figures. But in some other ways it works – we can clearly see Havertz in an Arsenal shirt for one. His hard working style would also be appreciated in Mikel Arteta’s team.
But until we get some more concrete information on this front, we are not going to think about it too much. It will be very interesting to see how they deploy their Champions League cash, and if they are keen to send some our way that’s fine by us.
As for Havertz, it seems like he’s going to have to prepare for a long summer of uncertainty as clubs play the waiting game.
