Bayern, Chelsea and Arsenal to be locked in to tricky triple chase of two top midfielders – Chelsea could miss out on both

Bayern Munich could become a dangerous rival for Chelsea in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, according to rumours published by Football Insider today.

The piece is actually about Arsenal, who are also interested in the Ecuador star. But the other moving part in this whole contraption is Declan Rice. He’s the Gunners’ priority, and if he goes there he will likely eat up all of their midfield budget. That would leave us a clear run at Caicedo – except for Bayern’s looming presence.

They’ve also been recorded as a side interested in Rice, but it seems they are increasingly sure the England man will go to Arsenal. Unfortunately for Chelsea, that means the German giants will be all in on Caicedo, and the Ecuador international is likely to pick Champions League football and Bundesliga titles there than scrapping for mid table with us.

There’s a long way to go of course – perhaps this Bayern interest is all a smoke screen. We certainly would wait to see it confirmed by a top insider who knows club sources like Florian Plettenberg before we get too excited.

As it stands, we would expect Rice at Arsenal before too long, and then Caicedo coming to Chelsea at the end of a long summer of bitter bidding back and forth with Brighton. But if Bayern do have a serious interest, we could end up dangerously empty handed.
