“Believe in him” – Former Chelsea striker gives verdict on Mykhailo Mudryk

Some of Chelsea’s signings of late have started to come under heavy criticism from those in the game and even from some of their own fans.

Since the new owners arrived at the club they have spent around £550million signing new players across two transfer windows, and not all of them have hit the ground running yet.

Of course, sometimes it is natural for new players arriving in a new league to take some time to settle, but there have been some question marks raised over the £80million plus spent on winger Mykhailo Mudryk in January, and whether he has the quality to make in at Chelsea and in the Premier League.

There are still many fans who hold a real belief in his ability and that he will come good, and this is something that former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is also trying to believe. And he will know Mudryk better than most, being a fellow countryman.

In an interview with Goal, Shevchenko said on Mudryk: “He’s very young, he has a lot of potential in the future. He’s signed a very long contract with Chelsea, we should see how it’s going at  the end of his contract with them.

“I think he has quality, a strong base. Chelsea look like they believe in him, there’s a new manager now, we just have to give him time and wait. That is the policy and vision of the club.”
