Cesare Casadei sets incredible record in Italian football

Cesare Casadei’s superb U20 World Cup ended in defeat on Sunday night, with Uruguay pipping his Italy team 1-0 in the final.

Despite the defeat, the on loan Chelsea man still got the award for the tournament’s top scorer and best player – the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot.

In winning the Golden Boot he set some pretty astonishing records. He is the highest scoring Italian ever at an U20 World Cup – in fact, he’s the top scoring Italian at any global international tournament.

Given their rich footballing history, that’s unbelievably impressive.

Now the story turns to his future. After bursting onto the scene like that there will be no shortage of interest for this summer. Presumably sides in his native Italy will be queueing up to take him on loan after seeing his impressive performances in Argentina. Who wouldn’t want the player who broke the best record of them all in their team?
