Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is today being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia as Chelsea continue their summer clearout.
The striker is very much surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and there have even been whispers that he could see his contract terminated if no buyers are found.
However the emerging Saudi League could yet save Chelsea that cost and that embarrassment. They’ve already signed up a slew of high profile names this season, the latest Karim Benzema, and Aubameyang is exactly the sort of former top player they’re targetting.
He didn’t look like he could cut it in the Premier League anymore, but we’re sure he can still do a job in the Saudi League. The Daily Mail say that the striker is “close to finalising an agreement” with a Saudi club to make the move this summer.
We would imagine that Chelsea would be delighted to just get him off the books and wouldn’t charge much of a transfer fee – although if you don’t take the chance to grab some money from these wealthy Saudi teams who are spending so freely, you’re really missing a trick.
