Chelsea identify Mason Mount replacement as United talks heat up

Chelsea have reportedly started internal discussions over replacing Mason Mount, who could soon join Manchester United.

That is according to The Evening Standard today, who claim that Chelsea are preparing for more talks with Manchester United this week over Mount’s proposed move to Old Trafford.

Sources: Chelsea discussed signing former Liverpool striker this transfer window!

And in the article, it also states that Chelsea are expected to move for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga if Mount joins Manchester United.

Mount is apparently keen to join United and is ready to walk away from Chelsea for free at the end of his contract next summer if the move does not go through.

Veiga is a top target to replace Mount and the 21-year-old has a release clause of £34.6m.

So an interesting few days ahead for Chelsea and Mount then, to see if a deal for him to join rivals United comes to fruition or not. It’ll be a huge loss for Chelsea.
