Chelsea “in control” to sign “£70+10m” midfielder this transfer window

Chelsea feel that they are in control to sign one of their priority transfer targets this window.

That is according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, who put out his latest exclusive and extensive Chelsea FC column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea yesterday.

As we know, Chelsea are looking to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer as a priority target in midfield, but there has yet to be any fresh bid from The Blues.

They’ve been very busy selling players all this week and it looks like they have been trying to get some confirmed deals done in terms of outgoings before moving back in for a bid for Caicedo.

However, as Jacobs says, Chelsea feel like they are in control here and he even says the fee expected to be enough to get the Ecuador international will be closer to £70m plus £10m in add-ons, rather than the £100m plus that we hear about.

Jacobs said: “With Caicedo, Chelsea still feel that they’re in control, and that Caicedo is keen on joining. Personal terms are close. And although you’ll hear figures of £100m+ (and some even suggesting as high as £120m), my understanding still remains that the fee for Caicedo will be closer to £70+10m. Their rejected £60m bid from a few weeks back tells you they don’t think it’s going to take a fee that high.”
