Fabrizio Romano has just given the “here we go” treatment to Chelsea’s purchase of Nicolas Jackson.
The negotiations have been pretty straightforward because of the €35m release clause in Jackson’s contract. According to Romano (and as we had predicted) the Blues have agreed to pay more than that in return for being able to spread the payments out over time.
Personal terms have long been agreed, and now it’s just a question of waiting for the medical, which Romano says is being scheduled.

Understand Villarreal accepted Chelsea to pay just bit more than €35m release clause but better payment terms using installments.

We don’t know how this move will work out, but it’s an interesting move from the club’s transfer team. Jackson is not the Blue chip Harry Kane / Lautaro Martinez level striker that fans want, but at €35m he’s a bargain who can hopefully start scoring regularly. He only has to get 10 goals to beat our top scorers of the last couple of years.
If he can make us competitive again, we are in place to spend big on a pedigree forward if and when one becomes available.
Wow!
This is good news
