Chelsea’s €25m plans for new club aim to take them to next level

Chelsea completed their purchase of a majority stake in French club Strasbourg yesterday, and we’ve started to hear the first snippets about what we might have planned for them.

L’Equipe claim that the Blues will invest  €25m in the club in transfer fees alone. That is about what they’ve spent in the last 3 years combined, and will hopefully take an already impressive squad up another level. Focusing on a spread of younger players from around France seems to be a likely plan, as well as building support in the local area and improving the training setup.

This not only hopefully brings the club now associated with us success, but also gives us first option on those players. Not only that, it raises standards at the club, which helps our academy loanees headed out there.

We will of course be reporting on any significant Strasbourg transfer news here too as any player there might one day be a player at Stamford Bridge.
