Chelsea’s transfer window has taken a good turn in the last week.
Saudi Arabian clubs have come out of the woodwork with serious offers for a number of players we want to get rid of, and things are suddenly looking a lot less hopeless than they did not long ago.
One problem is no closer to being resolved though – that of finding a new first choice goalkeeper. So far, it’s seems we’ve been shot down on all fronts. David Raya looks like he will be joining Tottenham, Mike Maignan is too expensive, and we’ve pulled out of the chase for Andre Onana, leaving him to potentially move to Man U.
Basically we’ve worked our way down our list of targets and not been able to come anywhere close to signing any of them. We wonder if the sporting directors are considering a new approach here where they spend their resources elsewhere and return for a top goalie in a year’s time.
It wouldn’t be our ideal situation given how much not having a good keeper has hurt us, but we would rather wait for a player who will be a good upgrade on Kepa rather than keeping us in purgatory for another season.
Has David de Gea not been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge?
