Conor Gallagher more likely to stay at Chelsea after latest Romano update

Conor Gallagher is not going to be included in any deal for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, Fabrizio Romano has just tweeted.

Brighton have another target in mind. West Ham and Newcastle are also both apparently interested in signing Gallagher, who played quite regularly last season for Chelsea. The Blues will hope they can still sign Moises Caicedo, just by paying what Brighton want rather than including Gallagher in the deal.

The news that we may be able to sell a whole chunk of our squad to Saudi Arabian clubs is changing the dynamics of the rest of the summer, and may change the club’s view on whether to sell Gallagher at all.  If we get more than we expected in other sales (Kai Havertz looks set to leave too), the need to sell him evaporates. In fact it might save us having to make a transfer in, as we would need further midfield depth then.

We’ve always been strong advocates of keeping Gallagher, and we think he’s the perfect player to improve markedly with Mauricio Pochettino in charge. He probably wants to stay, so let’s make it happen.

  1. Let him leave because he has no chance in starting lineup for chelsea next season. As a young player, he need a regular football.
