Christian Pulisic’s future looks to finally be moving towards a resolution.
The winger has struggled for games for more than a year now and last season was a total waste for him, in hindsight.
The problem is that he’s not able to find a team who can pay his wages and Chelsea the transfer fee they want. But as time passes and his value drops (as well as his wage demands, theoretically) it’s becoming increasingly feasible.
Nizaar Kinsella reports today that AC Milan are closing in on a deal, with Milan refusing to pay more than £17m for the winger, but that sum looking increasingly tolerable for Chelsea.
Reports in Italy even hint that Pulisic’s boot sponsor Puma could be involved and pay part of the USA star’s wages just to get him back playing in top competition again and out of the shadows at Chelsea.
After a year of stalemate, Pulisic’s future looks like it will finally be resolved, and Chelsea will be able to get another unwanted asset off their books as the summer clearout continues in earnest.
The Blues still want €20m for their winger, but a €3m gap can easily be bridged with bonuses and add ons, and right now we’re convinced Milan will get this one done. That’s a relief for those upstairs at Chelsea, as there seems to be limited interest in the winger from elsewhere.
