There are crazy transfer rumours and then there are really crazy transfer rumours.
We’d put this in the latter category. SportWitness have translated reports from Germany claiming that Wesley Fofana has been offered to Bayern Munich this summer.
The France defender only signed for Chelsea a year ago and missed a large part of the season due to a knee injury. We can see there being some disappointment about his lack of appearances – but it’s almost impossible to imagine Chelsea being keen to sell him already.
The idea is dismissed by the German writers anyway – they say that the €70m it would cost to sign him would be too much for the Bavarians, who are close to Napoli star Kim Min Jae in any case.
What’s more curious to us is where the idea has come from. Is this just a case of a crazy story producing more clicks, or is there actually something to it?
