Guardian: Chelsea join the race to sign 21-year-old La Liga midfielder

Some breaking news this Tuesday afternoon involves Chelsea being interested in a brand new name for your shortlists.

There is never going to be a quiet day as we approach another transfer window, especially if you are a Chelsea fan. The club are going to be having a very busy transfer window selling players, and also buying by the looks of it, despite already having spent £600m in the last two transfer windows.

As I said, there is a new name on the block who Chelsea have ‘entered the race’ for apparently, and that is Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

The Guardian have the exclusive on it, and claim that Mauricio Pochettino encountered frustration after missing out on Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte, who is set to join Paris Saint-Germain, and has switched his focus to Veiga.

Veiga has emerged as one of the best young midfielders in Europe and his contract contains a €40m (£34.4m) buyout clause. He’s also been linked to a number of other top clubs lately and Chelsea would face competition.
