Gianluca Di Marzio has just given the latest update on the Ruben Loftus-Cheek situation at Chelsea.
Following the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, the Italian club are in desperate need of a central midfielder, and they’re keen to follow up on their long standing interest in Loftus-Cheek.
Chelsea are holding out for €25m to €30m for the academy product, who only has one year left on his contract. It’s a high price, but they also now know Milan have just received an injection of money.
The Blues themselves have also made a couple of important sales, and so are under less immediate pressure to move Loftus-Cheek on.
The Rossoneri are looking to spend more like €15m on RLC, so a significant gap remains. But as time passes it feels likely that the €10m gap can be bridged by some add ons and incentives that allow the two sides to get a deal that really will probably help both of them over the line.
