“I’m not interested” – Player reacts to questions about Chelsea interest

A player has been quizzed about his future this weekend amidst reported interest from Chelsea coming in.

As we know, one area on the pitch Chelsea are looking to sign in this summer is the goalkeeper position, with doubts over both the future’s of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy right now.

Sources: Chelsea’s goalkeeper search – Andre Onana and Mike Maignan!

Chelsea are continuing to be linked with a few potential new goalkeepers, one of which is Leeds United stopper Illan Meslier.

The 23-year-old is unsure yet what the future holds, but it sounds like he is absolutely open to a move away from his club this summer.

But he would only want to join Chelsea if he was going to be the confirmed number one, saying that he is not interested in coming to Stamford Bridge to sit on the bench.

“For now, I have a contract until 2026, Meslier said as reported by HITC.

“Officially, I still belong to Leeds. I will have to think about what could be the best project, be that at Leeds or another club.”

The goalkeeper added when asked about a potential move to Chelsea: “If it is to go and be on the bench, I’m not interested in that.

“If it’s to be the number one, of course, you can’t say ‘I’m not interested in Chelsea.”

To be honest, Chelsea’s reported interest hasn’t really been spoken about much of late, so I’m not sure that it is even that serious anymore and they seem to be looking at other targets anyway.
