Insider reveals target’s release clause and Chelsea’s rivals to sign him

Earlier this afternoon rumours about Chelsea interest in Nicolas Jackson emerged, and as is his way, Fabrizio Romano swiftly followed up with further details, implying that he knew all along and had just decided not to say anything.

Despite the slightly cheeky nature of it (he does at least credit Nizaar Kinsella for the scoop) he does add some interesting extra detail.

He revealed that Jackson has a €35m release clause, which could prove vital if they’re trying to sign him quickly.

He also named some of the competitors for Jackson’s services – RB Leipzig, AC Milan and other unnamed “Premier League clubs.”

That price sounds reasonable, and we can certainly outbid all those rival clubs when it comes to wages offered to the up and coming attacker.

So that bring it all back to one thing – is he any good? He certainly finished the season in red hot form and could yet prove to be a superstar, but he’s far from the established level of someone like Victor Osimhen from what we can see.

It might end up being a nice little bargain like Benoit Badiashile, but it could easily backfire too. Let’s not forget this was a player that Bournemouth were just a medical away from signing back in January. Were they ahead of the curve, or are we step above his level? It’s an interesting question for our scouts to answer.
