Mauricio Pochettino will have his striker for a full preseason

Ben Jacobs today reported that Nicolas Jackson is in London to do his medical at Chelsea. Earlier in the day, Fabrizio Romano had reported that a deal had been struck between the Blues and Villareal for his transfer.

With personal terms already agreed, that’s promising for Chelsea as they look to wrap up a rapid deal. Mauricio Pochettino starts work at Chelsea a week today, and Jackson will surely be signed and sealed before then.

That then gives the new signing maximum time to settle in and get used to life in England as well as his new manager and teammates. That’s important – it looks like he’s going to be our main option up front this season, and he needs to hit the ground running.

It gives him the best possible platform to succeed – whether he’s up to the task that has defeated so many before him is another question.
