Medical for Chelsea player set for Monday ahead of Saudi Pro League move

Edouard Mendy is one step closer to joining Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, with Fabrizio Romano reporting just now that the goalkeeper will have his medical on Monday.

It’s a long wait really, given that Romano also reports that the deal was approved by Chelsea two days ago, and presumably personal talks were concluded even before that. Still, the contracts “are being checked” and all of the final bits of paperwork put in place before Al Ahli approve it on their end.

It looks likely to be the second move in that direction this summer, with N’Golo Kante having been announced earlier this week. There are plenty more to come – some which will generate far more money than this one – and this won’t be the last Saudi medical we hear about this week.

A brief Chelsea career that shone so brightly and so briefly has come to an end already.
