Midfielder completed medical and agrees personal terms – all that is missing is Chelsea announcement

N’Golo Kante has completed his medical in London ahead of a move to Saudi Arabian team Al Ittihad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who has given the “here we go” catchphrase green light to the deal, the midfielder signs a 2 year deal with the Saudi team which is worth an insane €100m per year – once you add in all the image rights, commercial deals and other tie ins the club have used to sweeten the deal.

For them money is not object, it’s just about having big names with good reputations on board, and you won’t find many better reputations than Kante’s.

Chelsea lose a key player who could have played a key role once again in transitional season, but equally they gain £290,000 a week of space on the wage bill to use to replace him. New manager Mauricio Pochettino will be wishing he still had the Frenchman around, but equally he won’t be too frustrated with the prospect of a blank slate when he moves in.

For all of Kante’s quality, at times we became dependent on his exceptional abilities, and that dependence was tested in the long periods when he was out. Now it’s time for a new era – the question is if we can find anyone who can step up and fill those shoes.

There are certainly no shortage of players linked, but we’re not sure any come close as it stands.
