Patrick Vieira is close to being appointed as manager of Chelsea’s new affiliate club, RC Strasbourg.
The Arsenal legend has been out of work since being sacked by Crystal Palace earlier this year. He had previously managed Nice in Ligue 1, and this marks a return to his native France where he’s had success before.
It’s a bit of a coup for Strasbourg to get such a big name coach with a wealth of playing experience at the very top level, plus a very solid coaching CV.

It should all help with the new project developing there, as Chelsea look to develop their own academy players plus pick up young talents from the local market.
It’s by no means a done deal – Nicolo Schira simply claims that Vieira has been offered a contract until 2025, rather than claiming he will definitely sign it – but it looks very close to being done.
