Pochettino’s Casadei plans starting to make preaseason ideas clear

The Evening Standard have just published Nizaar Kinsella’s latest update on the future of Cesare Casadei.

After going about his business pretty quietly this season after signing from Inter a year ago, the young midfielder has exploded onto the scene with a Golden Ball AND Golden Boot winning performance at the U20 World Cup in Argentina in the last few weeks.

Suddenly he’s the shiny new toy everyone wants to know about- and Nizaar has an update on his future, and on Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for preaseason in general.

In order to get a good look at players like Casadei, the incoming coach is apparently set to split his squad into two groups for preaseason,

Casadei is “more likely to go on loan” but will have the chance to impress Pochettino through the summer.

The possibility of him establishing himself in the squad for this season is certainly there – but after seeing Carney Chukwuemeka rot on the bench in the last 12 months, we’d be more keen to see these talents go and play somewhere.

Any player who can earn a place in the squad to tour America later in the summer can feel confident they’ve got a real shot of making Pochettino’s first team.
