Two Chelsea players fail to tempt Juventus as exchange for 14 goal striker

Juventus have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea as the Blues look to engineer a way to sign Dusan Vlahovic from the Old Lady for a discount.

Calcio Mercato has a whole piece on the Serbian striker, whose future is “increasingly in the balance” after a disappointing 18 months in Turin, and can count Chelsea among his suitors. He scored 14 goals in 42 appearances as Juventus had almost as bad a year as Chelsea, and both teams are looking to refresh majorly.

Juventus think selling Vlahovic will help them, and clearly Chelsea think buying him will help them. We will see who is right. For the time being, the price is causing issues. Juventus want €80m for the forward, and Chelsea want to basically try and halve that by including players in part exchange.

Loftus-Cheek and Lukaku were top of their list of suggestions, but clearly Juve aren’t interested.

The piece does note that “discussions will start again,” perhaps with new names on the trading block.
