Chelsea’s new £25m signing was valued at £70m not long ago

Chelsea may well have landed themselves a bit of a bargain signing recently, even though that will be highly debated amongst Blues fans.

Robert Sanchez joined the club for £25m from Brighton, and many Blues fans do actually see that as still being too expensive for a goalkeeper who is out of form and recently lost his number one spot at his club. These are understandable views.

Sources: Chelsea plan to sign new attacking midfielder, with Dewsbury-Hall and 4 others being looked at!

However, it wasn’t long ago when Sanchez was Brighton number one and performing to a very high standard week in and week out, thus attracting interest from top clubs.

According to The Daily Mail, at one stage, and not all that long ago, the asking price for Robert Sanchez was up to £70m he was so highly thought of at Brighton.

And even earlier this summer, a Chelsea enquiry was met with a request for £40m which, then, abruptly ended the discussion.

So if you do look at it that way, maybe £25m isn’t a bad price at all!

  1. The more reason Chelsea should not go for caicedo at that outrageously exorbitant price. Because most of the signings from Brighton in past have not lived up to the billing. Cucurella, and others. Caicedo might also end up being a flop.
