Chelsea have released their injury update for the week, with some interesting updates all round.
The vast majority of players are listed as simply “continuing to undergo [their] rehabilitation programme.”
That just means they’re at some stage on the long road to recover in some cases. That includes Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana and Marcus Bettinelli. None of them can be expected to be back within the next fortnight.
What is interesting is the two players upgraded to “in partial team training.”
In Carney Chukwuemeka’s case, that feels ahead of schedule. He had surgery on his knee in late August, yet he’s already clearly quite close to a return. That’s a boost.
Also listed with the same status is Benoit Badiashile. He’s been out since May, and it feels like he’s been back in training for weeks without making much progress towards an actual first team appearance. Maybe next weekend is the moment for him?
