Cole Palmer came off the bench for Chelsea against Aston Villa with the team in a bad position.
They were a man down, and just minutes after he entered the game, a goal down too.
Despite that, he did manfully to try and get the Blues back into the game.
In fact, his 3 shot creating actions were second most on his team, despite the fact that he only played the final 20 minutes of the match. One of them, a long raking pass, was one of the better attacking moments Chelsea had through 90 minutes.
The fact that the top of the team in the whole game was central defender Axel Disasi is pretty telling too, but that’s another story.
Palmer will start tomorrow against Brighton in the EFL Cup by virtue of Mauricio Pochettino’s rotation as much as anything – but if he does even remotely well, we expect to see him playing from the start in our next league game too.
