“It was more my decision” – Chelsea academy starlet on his reasoning for making £3m move

After 16 years at the club, Callum Hudson-Odoi finally left Chelsea this summer and went to join Nottingham Forest for just £3m.

He’s just given his first interview as a Forest player, where he talked about the tough decision to leave Stamford Bridge after so many years. The time was certainly right, but that doesn’t make it less painful for us or for Callum to see his dreams of being a star for us fade away.

“Chelsea has been my home for a very long time and knowing it was time to go was emotional,” he says. “It was difficult, we had conversations but I thought it was best if I leave. It was a mutual agreement, but I’d say it was more my decision,” Hudson-Odoi said in quotes picked up by the Telegraph.

“Forest is the right place for me to excel in my football, and do more than I probably could at Chelsea. I want to be playing as much as possible.”

We’re desperate to see CHO succeed, and while he won’t be making his debut tonight as Forest face Burnley, it shouldn’t be long before we see him playing for his new team.

He faces a decent bit of competition there as they’ve invested in some serious talent this summer, but we all know how good Callum is, and if things go well he could easily be one of stories of the season – and one of the biggest bargains too.
