Being ‘beasted in an army camp’ is certainly an interesting way to describe football training sessions, but that is what Mauricio Pochettino’s training sessions at Chelsea has been likened to this week.
The club are in a gloomy period, a period that they really need to pull themselves out of ASAP. Perhaps intense training sessions are the answer then?
We know that historically Pochettino has liked to put on intense training sessions at Tottenham and at PSG, and not every player will react well to that. But it looks like he has a core group at Chelsea who seem to be reacting well to it so far, probably mainly because they are young and hungry players.
The Daily Mail has an article out on that today and they claim the Chelsea squad is now described as a tight-knit one and that accepts it is just a matter of things needing to click on the pitch which requires that all-important time.
As for Pochettino’s efforts to improve the team, ‘I know for a fact they are definitely working hard,’ one source insisted to The Mail.
Lots is being done on shape and formation with a big focus on fitness, intensity and high standards.
Apparently on their recovery days fitness work is still required and some elements of training have been likened to being ‘beasted in an army camp’ such are the high demands and gruelling nature of certain drills.
