“No doubt” Chelsea will move for key position in January with target wanting London stay

Chelsea will ‘no doubt’ move to sign a new player in one key position in January should their troubles continue.

That is according to one journalist who has been speaking on the latest situation with Chelsea’s potential striker pursuit for January.

We are all witnessing Chelsea’s lack of finesse first hand right now and it’s been their biggest problem during the first six games of the season. It’s really hindering Mauricio Pochettino’s progress as new Chelsea boss right now and in fact, there has been the opposite of progress so far.

Nicolas Jackson has only scored one goal so far and is really looking like a player struggling to make an impact, and it’s clear really that Chelsea should have gone for a proven goalscorer in the summer market.

Ben Jacobs has the latest on Ivan toney in his exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for SPTC today.

He says: “There is no doubt Chelsea will move for experience and goals if things don’t turn around in the coming months. Brentford’s Ivan Toney remains one to watch. It’s too early to talk of an advanced negotiation, or even significant internal movement. That’s because Chelsea wanted to start the season and put faith in Jackson and Broja. But I am told Toney is not only open to the move but keen to stay in London. That could give Chelsea an edge.

“Brentford will be looking for at least £60m and some sources say even more in January. Summer may be different as Toney’s contract will head into its final year. But if there is urgency to buy in January, which is usually a seller’s window, the price could hike up further.”
