Moises’ Caicedo’s arrival at Chelsea at the end of the summer came after a punishing transfer saga which ran all summer.
The Blues had to battle with Brighton over the price – and then with Liverpool, who emerged as serious contenders to sign the midfielder.
But according to Caicedo’s agent, he was never seriously considering a move to the Reds. In fact, it seems that the Blues could have relaxed a little and had faith that the midfielder would push to come to them.
The Daily Star have quotes from his agent, Andrea Pellegatti, who insisted that his client had always been focused on Chelsea since they started making overtures in January:
“It was finalised in the last few hours, but the boy only wanted Chelsea, who had started to show their interest consistently since January.”
In the end Caicedo became a British record transfer when we eventually stumped up £115m for him, and he’s not had the best start to his career at the Bridge. But he’s got many years to start libing up to that fee.
