It’s not a popular setup with the fans, who want Chilwell at left back to support whoever plays on the left wing – possibly Mykhailo Mudryk, as last week.
We’re on the fence – clearly Pochettino likes using Colwill as a narrow left back, and he kept him there last week even when he decided Chilwell’s time as a winger was over.
We can well see Pochettino seeing the light against Aston Villa and finally doing what the majority of fans want. On the other hand, given Villa are a strong side, is it impossible we see Chilwell back – but on the wing again?
There will be a few meltdowns if so. 5 goals in 5 games is not good enough, and a move like that will certainly give the impression of being negative, no matter how it actually plays out on the pitch.
