(Video): Skilful effort wins first Goal of the Month award

Carney Chukwuemeka’s goal against West Ham has been chosen as Chelsea’s goal of the month for August.

There was never going to be any other choice really, despite a couple of nice efforts from Raheem Sterling and a free kick banger from the youth teams. Chukwuemeka’s special effort really felt like it might be a turning point in that game against West Ham, and indeed in Chelsea’s recent history.

Instead, it proved to be the opposite – we missed a penalty, lost Carney to injury, lost the game, and have trudged on the familiar miserable path of the last 12 months ever since.

Still… nice goal though!

  1. We let you score it just to make the game interesting. Then offered you a penalty to see of you fancied making a game of it. You obviously didn’t. Poch gone by Christmas? For his sake, I hope so.
