Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing today claims that Chelsea are lining up another central defender to fill the space left by Trevoh Chalobah when they eventually sell him.
Romano suggests that Edmond Tapsoba, who has been a big part of Bayer Leverkusen’s success in the last 12 months, could be top of the list. But whoever comes in, it looks certain now that a defender is on the way.
“I can say that Chelsea are also looking into a new centre-back signing for 2024. It’s because the decision of the club – which is now 100 percent confirmed – is to sell Trevoh Chalobah in the January transfer window,” CaughtOffside columnist, Fabrizio Romano, wrote in his exclusive Daily Briefing.
“He would love to stay at Chelsea, he wants to play more, but there is no space for him and he doesn’t want to be stuck on the bench. Now he’s injured of course, but Chalobah’s future is elsewhere.

Honestly, this is just another puzzling piece of information about those running the show at the moment. How can you be there watching yesterday’s defeat and be worried about buying another central defender?
Yes we will be selling Chalobah, but he’s not played a single minute this season, so it’s hardly like we need a ready made replacement to step into the team.
