£17.5m move takes first steps as unwanted Chelsea man starts to turn heads in Spain

Real Madrid are seriously considering making Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan permanent, and are ready to do business with Chelsea to make it happen.

The Spaniard returned to his native country late in the summer window to be number one after Thibaut Courtois picked up a bad injury.

After a shaky start he’s played some decent games and Los Blancos are now top of the table.

Courtois is expected back before the end of the season, but that’s apparently not going to stop Madrid keeping Kepa around. Andy Dillon today reported that they’re willing to offer £17.5m for Kepa, and include their other backup goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, in exchange.

We’re not sure how realistic those terms are – there’s no reason Chelsea would really want Lunin given they bought two young goalkeepers in the last year to back up Robert Sanchez – but we can well believe that Madrid are interested in coming to a deal over a permanent move.
