“Chelsea need” – Former Chelsea attacker explains what the club are currently missing

Chelsea are finally starting to show some real promise this season under Mauricio Pochettino as the head coach.

The squad has been rebuilt from bottom to the top and they are looking to climb back up the ladder and challenge at the top of the league once again.

Sources: Transfer updates on new striker pursuit – Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko, Youssoufa Moukoko, and Dusan Vlahovic!

That probably wont come this season, but next season they will be expected to be up there with the top teams right now.

To do this though they still need at least one more thing, and that is a new striker according to former Blues attacker Shaun Wright-Phillips.

He believes that they lack a real number 9 who can put the ball in the back of the net and that is the one thing they are missing right now in order to compete at the top once again.

He specifically mentions a striker like Didier Drogba.

As cited by Chelstransfer, Wright-Phillips said: “Chelsea need a no-nonsense striker. It doesn’t need to look nice, it just needs to hit the back of the net. They miss a Drogba-like player, just to put the ball in the goal.”
