We hear plenty of Chelsea transfer rumours we have big doubts about – in fact, the vast majority of rumours leave us with our eyebrow raised like Carlo Ancelotti.
But sometimes we hear suggestions that make perfect sense, and that’s just what we’re getting from the whispers about PSV striker Santiago Gimenez, like those today on 90min which claim that we – along with Tottenham and Arsenal, are chasing him hoping to secure a January move.
Why do we find them convincing? Well, it’s a matter of needs, mainly. We need a striker who scores goals, and we seem to only be interested in buying young players with plenty of potential. Gimenez – 22 – ticks both boxes.
The 90min report notes that we might have to wait until next summer to sign him, which probably adds up too – we have Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja in place, and while neither is an established world class number 9, nor is Gimenez.
