Christopher Nkunku could be pushed to front line by Pochettino’s favoured team – opinion

Football.London have today published an interesting piece where they claim that Mauricio Pochettino has 7 “undroppable” players established in his starting XI now.

Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Levi Colwill. One could easily add Thiago Silva to that group too, given his importance to the squad, plus Reece James, if he weren’t consistently injured.

They then add Christopher Nkunku to that list of 7 to make it 8 of 11 spots taken. The problem with that is that it means that Nkunku is going to have to fit into this team as a striker – but that may work out just perfectly. We did brilliantly in a sort of strikerless 442 against Arsenal, and there’s no reason that Nkunku (who is more of a striker than Cole Palmer or Raheem Sterling anyway) can’t do a great job there too.

Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja will be there on the bench to provide plenty of pace and strength off the bench if we need it.
