“Crux of the matter” – Pundit hits nail on head with simple answer to Chelsea’s problems

One pundit has put Chelsea’s issue simply after defeat to Brentford this weekend, and he’s hit the nail on the head.

The Blues were all over Brentford as they often have been against lesser teams this season, but they could not put the game to bed in the first half when they should have scored a couple when fully on top.

Sources: Chelsea are looking at new centre backs and left backs for the upcoming transfer windows, with one left back target in particular named!

And that has been the story of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season so far, at least against teams who sit back and park the bus. Pochettino’s Chelsea just can not find a way to break these teams down playing in a low block.

But the answer for me is very simple – they still don’t have an out and out goalscoring centre forward.

ESPN pundit Steve Nicol thinks the same, and he has summed it up perfectly after the game, in words cited by Chels HQ.

He said: “Chelsea are just finding ways to lose games. But the crux of the matter is, if they had a centre-forward who could score goals, they would have a lot more points than they actually do.”

  1. TOO MUCH MONEY SPENT ON MANY MIDFIELDERS, AND DEFENDERS WHO WERE USELESS, CARTHORSES, DUE TO OWNERS WITH NO IDEA, AND A HEAD FULL OF DOLLARS, NOT BRAINS. ANY SUCCESSFUL TEAM HAS A QUALITY GOALKEEPER, GOAL SCORER, AND CENTRE HALF LEADER. JUST LOOK AT OUR PAST FROM BACK TO FRONT—CHECH, TERRY, LAMPARD, DROGBA BLOODY OBVIOUS TO ANYONE WITH COMMON SENSE.

  2. Mediocre attacker, Poor brain goal keeper and injuries are our problems at Chelsea. What do you expect from Jackson who’s new to the league and not proven as a top striker anywhere, nor a goalkeeper who’s dumb. Chelsea should go for Oshimhen or Serhou.
