We’ve already picked out Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer for praise despite Chelsea’s bad result, but it was interesting to see that WhoScored had a different suggestion as our top rated player.
They gave Levi Colwill a 7.0 rating, joint top with Gallagher. A lot of this seems to come from his last man tackle in the 73rd minute which stopped a goal.
As you’d expect, a lot of his good rating comes from his exceptional ability on the ball. He had a 90% pass success rate and played his usual searching balls into midfield with great effectiveness.
He also held his own in the air against a pretty beefy Brentford outfit. He won 4 aerial duels and made 2 tackles, as well as two big clearances.
It looks like we’ll be seeing more and more of him at centre back now, with Mauricio Pochettino seeming to be preferring using Marc Cucurella on the left now.
