Noni Madueke is the surprise selection in Mauricio Pochettino’s team today.
It looks like coach has switched up the formation today. Axel Disasi comes in, which gives the impression that it will be a back 3 – Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill and Disasi, Marc Cucurella at left back and then Madueke at right back.
He could also just be playing on the wing in a 424, we’ll have to see. But wherever he is, it’s a huge moment for him. The former PSV man has not had a Premier League start yet this season, and has largely disappointed when coming on as a sub.
This is a classic Pochettino move, and we can see why he has a reputation for being close with players and as a coach who gets them on-board. Handing an out of form player a chance to change their fortunes like this is a masterstroke – if it works out.
