Chelsea have certainly lacked the kind of player who can unlock defences in recent times, but this season they have absolutely got at least one player who can do just that.
That’s according to one Sky Sports pundit this week anyway, and to be honest, I along with most other Chelsea fans, fully agree with that statement.
Paul Merson has put his latest column out on Sportskeeda this week predicting the latest set of Premier League fixtures, and of course he spoke about Chelsea vs Brentford tomorrow lunchtime.
Whilst doing so, he honed in on Cole Palmer and how well he has been doing in Chelsea blue so far since his arrival from Manchester City in the summer.
And it is Palmer who Merson believes is the player Chelsea now have who can unlock defences and be the creator on the pitch.
Merson said: I said it when they signed him that Cole Palmer was a good player and he has shown in recent weeks that he’s very much a player for the present and the future. He can unlock defences as he’s used to training like that at Manchester City and has done really well in recent weeks.”
And once again, Merson is absolutely spot on with this opinion.
