Chelsea face Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup tomorrow night, giving an interesting chance for Mauricio Pochettino to change up his selection.
This should have been a great chance for players like Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka to pick up some minutes as they return from injury, but both of them are on the club’s injury report for the week, presumably ruling them out.
The same goes for Mykhailo Mudryk, who missed Saturday’s game.
So who will benefit? Noni Madueke is surely in line for a second consecutive start. Lesley Ugochukwu will probably replace Moises Caicedo in midfield, and most interestingly we will surely see a return to the team from Benoit Badiashile, who has been out since May but was in the matchday squad for the last two games.
Our next game isn’t until Monday, and we have no European football at all, so we expect a stronger team that we might usually put out at this stage of the competition against lower league opposition. Players like Enzo Fernandez will probably get minutes just to keep them in top condition for the league games to come.
